Vincent Shao is a rising senior at Kitsilano Secondary School located in Vancouver, Canada. Before moving to Canada, he was born and raised in Harbin, China. His experience living in both countries help him to understand the cultural difference between the two countries and to speak fluent Mandarin Chinese and English.
Through taking some business-relevant courses at school and being influenced by his parents, Vincent is very passionate about business and is actively engaged in business activities. This year, he received an academic excellence award for being the top student in his accounting class and had self-studied AP micro and macroeconomics to enrich his business skills.
As a student entrepreneur, he had worked in two student companies supervised by Junior Achievement, which is the world’s largest NGO that encourages rising high school students to get exposure to the business world. Serving in both the finance and operation departments, he had formed a pretty good idea about how businesses operate. One of his student companies, Wickbursts, which produced and sold handmade aromatherapy candles to local communities, ended up with a profit twice as much as the initial investment.
Recently, Vincent has been elected as the CEO for the student company program sponsored by Junior Achievement at his school, and he is looking forward to applying the things he has learned from his past experiences to build an exceptional student-run business.
